A swim spa is a modern and improved version of the classic swimming pool, that includes notable features such as chromotherapy (light therapy), a heater (for year-round use), a counter-current swimming area (for exercise), and seats to enjoy a pleasant and comforting hydromassage.
This type of product is truly innovative and still relatively unknown to a large portion of the public. Sometimes, our customers are unsure wether to buy a hot tub or a swimming pool, and this product certainly offers both possibilities in one. In fact, these types of products are starting to be known as swim spa (hydrotherapy pool).
Therefore, it is a swimming pool with the option of heating (up to 42 ºC), typically of medium size, which without requiring extensive constructino, offers the user two important services: a swimming area for sports and endorphin release, and a spa area for relaxation with hydromassage and stress relief.

But really, what's the difference between a hydrotherapy pool and an outdoor hot tub?
We're actually talking about very similar products. The materials used to manufacture both devices allow for their use outdoors. Additionally, both integrate pumps that massage the back, legs and feet, as well as a heater, filtration, music, etc. The most relevant differences are as follows:
In addition to the spa seats with back and leg hydromassage, the hydrotherapy pools feature a counter-current swimming zone, whereas outdoor spa bathtubs/hot tubs do not have enough space for this great feature. Swimming against the current allows the user to exercise by standing in front of the current and swimming against the water pressure. There are even accessories that can be installed, such as belts that secure the swimmer to the center of the pool or paddles for arm exercises.
The hydrotherapy pools are bigger than outdoor hot tubs. In some models, the difference is double the size, while in others, the difference can be much greater (in our company, we offer products up to 12 meters long). Therefore, we are talking about a type of product which can accommodate a significant number of people.
Large or very large hydrotherapy pools include filtration and water purification systems that are more powerful than those typically found in outdoor spa bathtubs/hot tubs. If you are concerned about the water's duration, we can install various systems that significantly extend its lifespan, such as sand filters or ultraviolet disinfection.
The consumption of hydromassage pools is higher than the one of outdoor spa bathtubs / hot tubs. The larger the size, the higher the consumption, and the closer we will be to needing three-phase electricity (380V). Not all models require three-phase electricity, but larger ones do. Don't worry, most of the projects we undertake involve supplying a pool less than eight meters long. If this is your case, you're in luck; single-phase electricity (220V) will suffice.
Hydromassage pools, being larger in size than outdoor spabathtubs/hot tubs, also have greater power in their pumps. Generally, hydrotherapy pools have 2 pumps ranging from 1500W to 2200W, whose power is specifically designed for counter-current swimming, with various power levels; thus the current's strength can be adjusted for a child, an adult, or an elderly person. As for the other pumps, they typically resemble those of hot tubs since both equipments require the same type of massage.
